Cork Midsummer Festival returns this June with ten days of theatre, music, dance, circus, literature and family activities taking place across more than 30 locations throughout Cork City. The annual festival transforms the city into a creative playground, bringing together Irish and international artists alongside community groups, performers and families.
Families visiting during the opening weekend can enjoy a wide range of free and interactive events. PlaySpaces invites children to explore imaginative play pods and secret dens designed by young people, while The Wiggle Wagon offers a colourful sensory circus experience packed with playful interactions. The Midsummer Parade will fill Oliver Plunkett Street with music, costumes, giant creations and performances from community groups across the city.
Younger visitors can also discover …where sounds grow…, an immersive nature-inspired sound installation for children, Play This Way, an interactive gallery space for early years play, and Singing Garden, a gentle sensory experience for babies and their grown-ups.
For families looking for a headline event, Ten Thousand Hours brings award-winning Australian circus company Gravity & Other Myths to Cork City Hall. Featuring incredible acrobatics, live music and moments of audience interaction, the show is suitable for ages four and over and promises plenty of jaw-dropping moments.
Alongside the family programme, visitors can enjoy world premieres, live music, outdoor performances, visual art installations and community celebrations throughout the city, making Cork Midsummer Festival one of Ireland’s most diverse and exciting cultural events.
