Brigit's Garden is joining forces with Down to Earth to bring a summer of woodland adventures with forest school inspired summer camps.

The camps will combine the beauty of Brigit's Garden with the adventures, inspiration and freedom of Forest School. Camps will have a variety of natural crafts, activities and games.

The camps will be smaller in size to allow the sessions to be child-led which is central to the Forest School ethos.

Woodland Fun with Nature, 5 to 7 year olds.

This camp will include nature crafts (clay, making inks and nature flags), bush craft skills (safely using drills and saws), a chill-out area with hammocks, tree swings and slack lines, the popular mud kitchen, nature based stories and songs and of course, child-led free play.

Wilderness Survival Skills, 8 to 12 Year olds.

This camp will provide opportunities for children to enhance their survival skills, with tool and knife use, animal tracking, fire building, flora and fauna recognition, foraging and cooking of wild plants, shelter and den building, knot tying and rope swing making.

Each camp is run by fully qualified Forest School Leaders with years of experience bringing children into nature.

What is Forest School?

Forest School is a way of working with children in a woodland environment, which provides a positive, natural, multi-sensory learning experience to develop physically, emotionally, socially and forming an appreciation and respect for the environment.

Sessions are child-led and child-initiated and aim to allow the child to follow their own interests and develop at their own pace.

Forest school provides a safe place for children to take age appropriate risks, such as tree climbing and tool use that help to enhance confidence and self-esteem under supervision of qualified leaders.
