The Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival returns on 8th and 9th August 2026 for its 51st annual celebration of Irish rural life, heritage and tradition. Held in the grounds of the Moynalty Steam Threshing Museum and surrounding parkland, the festival attracts visitors from across Ireland for a weekend packed with demonstrations, displays, music and family entertainment.

Throughout the event, visitors can experience the sights, sounds and skills of a bygone era. Traditional farming practices are brought to life through steam threshing, horse-drawn ploughing and binding demonstrations, while skilled craftspeople showcase basket weaving, blacksmithing, wood turning, harness making and other traditional trades. The popular historic road-making display also returns, recreating how roads were constructed more than a century ago.

The festival grounds will feature vintage tractor and vehicle displays, stationary engines, steam traction engines, chainsaw carving, commercial stalls, craft exhibitors and an auto jumble. The Moynalty Steam Threshing Museum will be open throughout the weekend, offering visitors the chance to explore a fascinating collection of artefacts and memorabilia.

Families will find plenty to enjoy, including amusements, a dog show and the Queen of Steam competition. The festival also hosts its second International Farrier Competition, bringing together skilled blacksmiths and farriers for a unique display of traditional craftsmanship.

Live entertainment runs throughout the weekend, with performances from All Folk’d Up, Gavin Gribben and Band, Matt Leavy and the Jennifer Brady School of Irish Dancing. The celebrations culminate with a headline performance from Nathan Carter and Band, ensuring a memorable finish to one of Ireland’s best-loved heritage festivals. With free parking, food stalls and plenty to see and do, Moynalty Steam Threshing Festival offers a fantastic family day out in the heart of County Meath.
