Heart of the Glens Festival
The Heart of the Glens Festival is one of the largest community festivals in Northern Ireland and hosts a range of cultural events.
The 2023 festival runs from 5 – 13 August and provides a fun packed programme of over 80 events throughout the 9 day period.
The large variety of events include the Community Opening Parade showcasing our community spirit with over 15 of our community groups along with local businesses taking part. Approx. 90 lorries join the parade and of course we also have our children in fancy dress and free entertainment at the end of the parade.
Our main events include the famous Lurig Challenge Run which is limited to 400 participants, Food Fest night, Adult Treasure Hunt, the ever popular 'Theme' fancy dress night (check FB for details), Sheep Dog Trails, the Vintage Family Fun Day is also an old time favourite. The 'Dalriada Sounds' concert showcases the talent both of the locals and invited guests from other areas with dancing, music, singing and poetry.
There is a wide range of children's workshops on offer, along with treasure hunts for both children and adults, heritage walks, storytelling, quizzes and a mixture of entertainment throughout the week to suit all ages. The 9 days finishes with the Grand Finale Street Céilí with displays of Irish Dancing live music and The Waves of Tory!
The Heart of the Glens Festival is 9 days full of entertainment and fun. Come along and join us – you will not be disappointed!
