Nearly 28 million people travelled through Dublin Airport last year an increase of over 6 million in just two years.

The airport confirmed that it handled 27.9 million passengers last year, a 10% increase on last year's record of 25 million.

Annual traffic has grown by a total of 6.2 million a year over the last two years.

Vincent Harrison, Managing Director said: "Those extra passengers have created an estimated 5,200 additional jobs on the Dublin Airport campus over the past two years." 

The increases were across all sectors but the majority of traffic is still between Ireland and the UK.

  • United Kingdom: 9.9 million - Up 12%
  • Europe: 14.2 million - Up 11%
  • US & Canada: 2.9 million - Up 16%

Dublin Airport is the fifth largest airport in Europe for connections to North America. It also has direct flights to 180 airports in 40 countries.
