The National Bus and Railworkers Union (NRBU) has announced an immediate strike from midnight tonight, Thursday.
The decision was taking following a meeting earlier today between the Group of Trade Unions.
It was already suggested by the General Secretary of NBRU, Dermot O'Leary, that a strike would place and the meeting was called to allow all of the Unions assess their member's role in how the dispute was proposed to take place.
In response to some member's demands for an immediate reaction yesterday, following the release of a letter issued by Bus Eireann management, Mr. O Leary told members: "It is one thing having days, or at least hours to make alternative plans, it is an entirely different matter when people are left standing at a bus stop without any prior notice".
That notice has now been given and the NRBU will engage in an all-out indefinite strike from midnight tonight.
