Boy recovering after falling into a sinkhole in Kerry

A 13-year-old boy is in a stable condition in hospital after falling into a sand sinkhole in Co Kerry yesterday.

RTE reports that Valentia Coastguard was alerted to the emergency in Inchimore, north of Kenmare, at about 6.40pm yesterday evening.

The Coastguard sent a rescue helicopter from Shannon to the scene, however, by the the time the helicopter arrived the boy had been helped out of the sinkhole by his father.

The boy was then flown to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as stable.
