It is the middle of summer so we would expect the weather not to interfere with our weekend plans.

Fortunately, Met Eireann predicts it will be dry for most of the weekend although the temperatures will be cool for August.

After the dull and damp start this morning in southern parts, it will brighten up everywhere to a day of sunny spells and just a few scattered showers.

Saturday will have a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers, but most places are likely to see a lot of dry weather.

Sunday will also bring a fair amount of dry and sunny weather, but there will be a few showers also. It will stay quite cool, though it should feel pleasant in sunshine with just light breezes. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees.

Current indications suggest that Bank Holiday Monday will be mainly dry and bright and that the rain halts just to the southwest of Ireland. Not much wind is expected either in this setup.

After Monday however, there are strong indications that the weather will become unsettled, with spells of rain and strengthening winds.
