Money for nothing: Random act of kindness in Irish shopping centre

A mystery man threw banknotes to surprised shoppers at a popular shopping centre in Derry.

The Derry Journal reports that the man threw a mixture of £10 and £20 notes from the first floor on to shoppers below.

Some reports said the man gave one local family £500 and handed £20 notes to shoppers as he walked through the centre.

Police examined the money and said it was genuine and no crime was committed.

It appears to be a random act of kindness and generosity.

Some people, including myself, not in the shopping centre were said to be "devestated".
