Stunned beachgoers spot "tornado" heading towards Suffolk village

Locals in the East Anglian village of Thorpeness took several jaw-dropping photos of what they believed to be a tornado on Saturday night.

However, although spectacular, it was actually a waterspout, which is a rotating column of water not wind.

Locals shared their image on Twitter and Restaurant manager Amy Youngs told the Telegraph: "It was muggy and stormy yesterday and we had all sorts of weather, but we've never seen a tornado over Suffolk before.
