THE American Red Cross has come under fire after using a poster that has been criticised for being racist.

Margaret Sawyer posted the image last week on Facebook and the reaction has resulted in the American Red Cross announcing that the posters are to be removed.

The poster attempts to explain what is and isn't acceptable behaviour at the pool, unfortunately, it looks like only black and latino children are misbehaving.

"We need to hold the Red Cross accountable for the publication of this poster, and demand that it is retracted and replaced at pools across the country", said Sawyer.

Confirming the poster has been removed the Red Cross said they  "deeply apologise for any misunderstanding, as it was absolutely not our intent to offend anyone. As one of the nation’s oldest and largest humanitarian organisations, we are committed to diversity and inclusion in all that we do, every day,"
