Children on the small island of Langeoog in the German North Sea had a nice New Year surprise when thousands of capsules with toys inside, commonly used in Kinder chocolate eggs, washed up on shore.

The official police Twitter account shared images on Wednesday. The post suggests that contents fell from a container that contained thousands of toys.

Others on social media also shared their images of the strange scene.

It is reported by local news NDR that a ship lost five containers in a storm and the contents are still washing up on the beach. Local volunteers continue to clear the area, removing items such as wheels, furniture parts, plastic strips, Star Wars figures, network plug and even prams.
