An embarrassed driver had to spend the night in his car after getting stuck while trying to drive down to Dunquin Pier in County Kerry.
The pedestrian only walkway is used for access to the Blasket Island's Ferry which had to cancel this morning's sailing.
He was discovered by the skipper of the ferry company who arrived at 8:30 to find the path completely blocked.
The man was helped out of the car through the boot and the car pulled out with a digger by Kerry County Council.
Sibéal Ní Lubhaing of Blasket Island Ferries told breakingnews.ie that "it would be the busiest week of the year for us, so plenty of people were a little annoyed at not being able to catch the ferry this morning".
"The guy drove down there last night and stayed sitting in the car the whole night. He didn’t ring anyone for help", she added.
