Turkish Airlines was named best short-haul airline in a survey of over 7,500 Which? members.

Which?, the largest consumer body in the UK, asked 7,534 of their members to complete an online survey about their recent experiences of flying with an airline from the UK.

They reported on a total of 11,359 flights and their customer score, shown as a percentage, was based on a combination of overall satisfaction and the likelihood of recommending the airline to a friend.

Turkish Airlines beat the much smaller Channel Islands airline Aurigny, with a customer score of 80pc. It achieved five stars in two categories, food  & drink and customer service, and four stars for boarding, cabin environment, and seat comfort.

Aer Lingus and British Airways scored three or four stars in most categories (BA only got two stars for food & drink) achieving an equal customer score of 67%.

Ryanair did not fare as well, with just one star for food & drink and seat comfort. However, they did score three stars for value for money, bettered only by Norwegian, proving that consumers continue to appreciate their low fares.

Singapore Airlines was the highest rated long-haul airline. Virgin Atlantic beat British Airways, scoring well in all categories, although travellers rated seat comfort on BA four stars.
