Go Loco – Take the Howth Express
Learn about Howth’s rich local history and culture (from Norman battles to modern Fishy tales), while meandering along the coastal roads of the beautiful Howth peninsula.
The Howth Express’ live commentary will entertain & inform you and your family about of some of the local lore and legend, including those of legendary pirate queen, Grace O’Malley & Erskine Childers and the Howth gun running from the original Asgard.
What better way to acquaint yourself with all that Howth has to offer, the spectacular cliff paths running from Balscadden to Sutton, the old Howth Tram Lines, Historic Howth Castle & Demesne, the golf courses, angling, sailing, not to mention the many fine restaurants and pubs.
The train, O’Malley, stops at the National Transport Museum located in the castle grounds where you can view vehicles that span over a century of transport development, including a fully restored, old Howth tram.
The Howth Express will start and finish at the bus stop on Harbour Road, opposite the old Court House, each tour will take roughly half an hour and tours run daily.
Ideal for group and educational tours, which can incorporate a visit to the National Transport Museum along with the tour.
