Africa Day returns to the Royal Hospital Kilmainham this May for a large-scale celebration of African culture, music and community. Organised in partnership between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Dublin City Council, the free event brings together musicians, dancers and cultural groups from across Africa for a full day of entertainment and activities.
Families visiting the festival can enjoy live performances across two stages, alongside dance displays, spoken word performances, fashion events, games and food experiences representing countries from across the continent. More than 40 musical acts and cultural groups are expected to take part throughout the day.
The event is designed as a free family day out, with activities and performances running from late morning into the evening across the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham. Alongside the Dublin festival, Africa Day celebrations also take place in towns and cities across Ireland with a wide range of community and cultural events.
