In 2025, the Chinese New Year begins on January 29th and and ushers in the Year of the Wood Snake, a time associated with transformation, growth and introspection. This Celebrating the Year of the Wood Snake there are lots of events over the next two weeks including food demonstrations, workshops and a family fair. With its renaming, Dublin Lunar New Year strives to broaden and grow its engagement with all communities that celebrate the Lunar New Year which include China, Vietnam, South Korea, North Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Mongolia, Indonesia, and Brunei. The celebrations start on January 25th & 26th with lots of different events including a Paper Cutting Workshop for children in the Central Library at 2:30 on Saturday, a Drop-in Activity: Zodiac Animals in Miniature in the Cheter Beatty Library at 3pm on Saturday afternoon, Drop In Family Art Workshop in the National Gallery of Ireland on Sunday from 11:30 and a Snake Workhop at various times in Dublin Zoo, exploring four snake species and uncovering their characteristics, behaviours, and habitats and nvestigate some common misunderstandings around snakes.
