IFI Family Festival returns to the Irish Film Institute for three days of cinema and activities for young film fans and their families. The programme ranges from short films for younger children to animation, international films and family classics, with screenings suitable for different age groups throughout the weekend.
The festival opens on Friday with the Irish premiere of Papaya, alongside arts, crafts and drumming activities in the IFI foyer. Saturday includes two collections of Short Tales, Mira and Gugu’s World, while Sunday features My Life in Versailles, a restored screening of Irish classic Into the West, Looney Tunes Classics and Chimney Town: Frozen in Time.
There is plenty happening beyond the screenings too, including foyer activities and an introduction to the IFI Irish Film Archive. On Sunday, families can also head outside to Meeting House Square for Summer Soccer with Bohemian FC, featuring an inflatable goal scoring game from 12pm to 3pm.
