Mayo Day 2026 takes place on Saturday May 2nd, bringing a countywide programme of events celebrating culture, community and local heritage. Under the theme ‘Mayo – The Connected County’, towns and villages across Mayo host a varied mix of music, exhibitions, workshops and community gatherings.
A strong family-friendly programme runs throughout the day. At Ballina Arts Centre, children can take part in storytelling sessions, free art workshops and gallery tours, alongside live music performances in the afternoon. In Westport, the Mayo Day Food Festival at Cabots Cookery School features local food producers, cookery demonstrations and activities suitable for younger visitors.
Across the county, additional events include guided tours, heritage exhibitions and live performances. At the National Museum of Ireland at Turlough Park, the Mayo Military Heroes event runs from 10:30am to 4pm, offering an opportunity to explore local history. Community celebrations such as Come Home to Clogher include music, dance and craft activities, while the Mayo Live Lounge in Westport hosts a live music broadcast from 2pm to 5pm.
With events spread across multiple locations, Mayo Day offers a broad mix of activities for families and visitors looking to explore different parts of the county.
