Spraoi International Street Arts Festival returns to Waterford City from 31st July to 2nd August 2026, transforming Ireland’s oldest city into a giant outdoor stage filled with performance, creativity and spectacle. Recognised as Ireland’s premier street arts festival, the event attracts thousands of visitors each year for a weekend of free entertainment and unforgettable experiences.
Against the backdrop of Waterford’s medieval streets, ancient walls and historic landmarks, audiences can enjoy a packed programme of international street theatre, contemporary circus, music, dance and visual performances. Artists from around the world bring the city to life with interactive shows, larger-than-life characters and breathtaking displays throughout the weekend.
Among this year’s highlights are performances from acclaimed international acts including Los Galindos from Catalonia, whose award-winning production combines circus, comedy and acrobatics, and NoFit State, the renowned contemporary circus company presenting its spectacular bamboo-inspired aerial performance.
The festival reaches its dramatic finale on Sunday evening with the famous Spraoi Parade. Hundreds of costumed performers, illuminated floats, live music, special effects and street theatre wind through Waterford’s medieval streets before culminating in a spectacular fireworks display launched from the River Suir. Drawing crowds of more than 25,000 spectators each year, it remains one of Ireland’s most impressive summer events and a highlight of the August Bank Holiday weekend.
