Families in Wicklow have something fin-tastic to look forward to — Bray’s former Sea Life centre is diving back into action this summer with a brand new name and an even bigger mission.
Now called Marine Life Aquarium Bray, the reimagined attraction promises cutting-edge exhibits, hands-on learning and a strong focus on marine conservation.
Set to open in the same building that hosted Sea Life for 25 years, Marine Life hope to welcome over 125,000 visitors annually and create 20 new jobs across marine biology, guest services and hospitality.
Local businessman Shane O’Farrell has teamed up with marine expert Dr Kevin Flannery for the relaunch, which aims to inspire the next wave of ocean lovers. As the only public aquarium on Ireland’s east coast, it’s set to be a must-visit destination for families, school trips and curious minds of all ages.
The project has already been praised by local TD Jennifer Whitmore, who described it as “a significant addition to the local area, serving as an educational space for our youth and a destination for tourism.”
“Ever since Sea Life closed its doors, I’ve been holding out hope that an alternative provider would be found to reinstate this vital resource,” she said. “From my marine biology background, I know that sites like this are so important for budding marine biologists.”
Marine Life Aquarium Bray is set to officially open its doors in summer 2025.
