Wild Atlantic Adventures
Immerse yourself in tradition by sailing into Ireland’s past on our 120-year-old Galway Hooker “Bláth na hÓige” (Flower of Youth). Banter with the Gaelic speaking crew, who will be more than happy to share their knowledge and passion for this wooden vessel and surrounding landscape. They might even let you take the rudder for a while! This two hour trip leaves from various piers in Carna, Cill Chiaráin and Roundstone.
Explore Fínis Island, one of the many deserted off-shore Atlantic islands surrounding this rugged coast, take a swim in the clear waters and chill out while enjoying the picnic provided. This three hour trip includes a spot of fishing and the chance to haul your own lobster pot with a local fisherman. The fresh catch can be cooked afterwards at Tigh Mheaic, the local bar in Carna.
From our base in Carna, Wild Atlantic Adventures offers traditional experiences in the geographically unique and culturally rich Connemara region of the west coast along the Wild Atlantic Way. Walk with us along the coastline, through the bogs, or up into the hills, while we interpret the rugged landscape and how this shaped the history, traditions, language and culture of the Connemara region and influenced the stories of its people. We offer customised guided walks that can range from a half day to as long as the walkers legs will carry them!
Explore Connemara, engage with the local community, share moments of our lives, and forever remember this hidden gem of authentic Ireland.
