Stradbally Steam Museum
The Steam Museum at The Green, Stradbally, Co. Laois is now open to the public. The Society is grateful to Laois Leader Rural Development Company Limited for generous support with this project.
The society houses many steam, fire and farm engines in the museum. These incluse a Land Rover Fire Engine which was stationed at Stradbally fire station in approximately 1950.
A Guinness loco Engine is also displayed, which was used around the Guinness Brewery streets over 50 years agoand there is even a home-made steam tractor.
It is hoped that further items will be offered on loan from Society members and other benefactors
During the August bank-holiday weekend, the museum hosts a two-day rally where the 40-hectare estate of Stradbally Hall is taken over by steam-operated machinery and vintage cars.
During summer weekends and Bank Holiday's visitors can also take a short trip on the narrow-gauge railway on the estate.
