Moby Dick Festival Youghal

This June bank holiday weekend, Captain Heaphy and the Moby Dick crew bring a wave of fun to Youghal for the annual Moby Dick Festival, celebrating the town’s seafaring links and its place in movie history. The fun begins on Friday evening with fancy dress, beach games and a free BBQ with live music at Nealon’s Quay. Local star Graham McDermott will officially open the festivities at 7pm in the marquee, followed by family-friendly entertainment throughout the evening. Saturday is packed with hands-on fun including craft markets, a crab fishing competition, street music, puppet shows, dance displays and a free Crazy Golf course. Kids can join treasure hunts, meet the Coast Guard and watch open-air movie excerpts from Moby Dick, filmed here over 60 years ago. Sunday brings even more magic with the Teddy Bears Picnic in Green Park, a baby and toddler parade, bouncy castles, art activities and magic shows. There’s also a dog show at 3pm, where furry friends can strut their stuff in front of the crowd.
