Coastival returns to Dún Laoghaire this July with nine days of family-friendly events celebrating the area’s maritime heritage, creativity and community spirit. Taking place across the town, the festival combines live entertainment, arts, culture and seaside fun, making it one of the highlights of the summer calendar.
Families can enjoy a packed weekend programme, beginning with Family Fun Day at dlr LexIcon on Saturday. Children can enjoy puppet shows, storytelling, arts and crafts, circus skills, music and interactive performances, including pirate adventures and imaginative theatre. Younger visitors can also explore The Magical Woodlands, an immersive creative play experience designed especially for children aged two to four.
On Sunday, Atmosphere Family Day transforms Newtownsmith into a colourful celebration of balloons, kites and flight. Visitors can watch giant stunt kites soar overhead, take part in kite-making workshops, build mini rockets, enjoy balloon modelling, beach games, strolling performers and live entertainment throughout the afternoon. A dedicated Quiet Space at the LexIcon and a Sensory Bus help ensure the festival is accessible and inclusive for everyone.
With free events, creative activities and entertainment for all ages, Coastival offers a fantastic family day out by the sea while celebrating everything that makes Dún Laoghaire unique.
