The Music for Galway Midwinter Festival 2025 is set to dazzle audiences as it celebrates the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel, one of the 20th century’s most innovative composers.
From Friday, 17 January to Sunday, 19 January, the Town Hall Theatre will host an unforgettable musical journey, showcasing Ravel’s profound genius and diversity. he festival features a compelling lineup of performances, including Ravel’s solo piano works, chamber music, and vocal masterpieces.
A highlight of the program is a new choreography of his iconic Boléro, created in collaboration with Galway Dance. Swiss pianist François-Xavier Poizat, currently recording Ravel’s complete piano and chamber repertoire, will lead the performances alongside an exceptional ensemble: violinist Gwendolyn Masin, cellist Benedict Klöckner, and mezzo-soprano Gemma Ní Bhriain, who will bring Ravel’s songs to life.
Joining them are pianist Finghin Collins, flautist Ríona Ó Duinnín, and dance artist Diarmuid Armstrong Mayock.
Taking place at various venues throughout Galway including the Town Hall Theatre Galway, this popular festival brings people together every year to enjoy great music in a welcoming and comfortable setting. Venture to Galway this January and discover its charms away from the craze of the summer festivals.
