The National Sandcaste and Sculpting Competition has taken place around the date of the Summer Solstice every year since 2003.

This year's event will take place on 2nd July on Bettystown Beach from early morning.

Come along and take part by making your own castle or sculpture or simply watch the artists and builders at work!

The fun begins at 10.30am for the sculpting and 2.30pm for the sandcastles. With judging and prizegiving at 4.30pm.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Prizes are up for grabs in each of the following categories in the Sandcastles ~ Under 5yrs ~ Under 8yrs ~ Under 13yrs ~ Family.

Admission 2 euro each.

Junior and Senior Sculpture winners will receive cash prizes with a Top Prize of €300

The Dick O’Reilly Perpetual Cup is presented to whomever the judges deem to have given the best effort on the day, across all of the categories - so give it all you've got!
