Description

Wells House is just outside Gorey so as a Dubliner it only takes an hour to get too and is a definately must for family day. A fantastic place for young kids.

The animal sanctuary is a "must visit". Kids can feed bottle feed the goats...go for a horse ride and feed the pigs and other animals. It's all supporting rescued animals so it's all in a good cause.

There is a large playground and archery centre and not to mention the huge forest with the fairy tree and the statue of the Gruffalo. Entrance fee is €8 per car no matter how many people you have in it. We never did the tour of the house as we have younger kids but there was a good amount of people doing it so it must have been good!!

We never ate in the coffee shop either as we brought our picnic but everything seemed very easily priced...

Visited here with a gang of kids over the last weekend in August. It's good value at €8 a car no matter how many people are in it. The grounds of the house are beautiful. And there are loads of tables for a picnic. The playground is aimed at younger kids - under 7 but there is a football pitch - so bring a ball. We had a couple of coffees and the food we had was tasty-kids had icecream which was reasonably priced. The highlight was the fairy/gruffalo walk through the forest, unfortunately the pet farm was closed. All in all a nice spot and nice way to spend a few hours just chilling.

Had a perfect day weather wise (not sure it would be so good if it was raining). Nice fairy walk, wishing well, fairy castle, gruffalo walk, cool wooden animal carvings. There was Archery for only €3 each that the grandkids loved. They also loved the huge chess and draughts game. Playground is really for smaller kids.

Went to Classic Car Show here and have never seen such a disorganised event. There were rowing adults and people cutting in and out and it took us an hour to get out of the carpark in stifling heat. There was no one to direct traffic and in the end they had to call the Gardai, wasting valuable resources as they should have been employed at more deserving work. We enjoyed the walks and the cars but it ruined the whole day as the small ones were so hot and cranky by the time we got out. the man's attitude on the gate was not good either

Fantastic on a good day weather wise but avoid if bad weather as not much to do. The walks are really lovely and keep the kids entertained with different themes along the way. The Animal Sanctuary is good and the playgrounds are great fun. I love the little craft shops along the way. We only had tea and buns in the cafe so can't report much on the food but was pleasant.
