RoolaBoola is one of the leading children’s arts festivals in Ireland, & includes a selection of the highest calibre national & international children's theatre shows as well as children’s films, exhibitions, & a multitude of hands-on workshops for children & their families.
2018 highlights include “The Young King” by Adelaide based theatre company Slingsby suitable for adults & children aged 8yrs +, “How to Catch a Star” by Galway based Branar Téatar do Pháistí created for families aged 4yrs+ & “Pink and Blue” by Belfast based Amadan for 4yrs+. Artist Eamon O’Kane’s exhibition “A History of Play” in the Linenhall gallery is designed for children to interact with. Animated feature films “Mary and the Witches Flower” (8yrs+) and “The Long Way North” (7yrs+) form the film offering, and workshops include “Nation Creation” & “Super Heroes” with childrens books writer Debbie Thomas, Clowning workshops with Amadan Theatre, “Dicing with Story Telling” with writer Ken Armstrong, and lots more.
