Cavan Arts Festival
Hot on its own tail from the birth of last year’s first edition, Cavan Arts Festival returns from 17-19 May 2019
Once again, Cavan Arts Festival brings a host of top quality local, national and international talent in visual art, theatre, live music, performance art, circus, comedy, literature, and dance to Cavan Town.
Highlights include local legend and trad-folk troubadour Lisa O’Neill; acrobatic dancers/absolute chancers Lords of Strut; ‘future soul’ merchants ZASKA; performance poet and voice of a generation, Stephen Murphy; wonderkid Josh McClorey; the comedian we all need to talk about, Kevin McGahern; experimental French Irish guitar duo Bicurious; Dublin-based motör(way)heads Gypsies on the Autobahn; Rossa Ó Snodaigh le imeachtai on bPuballGaeilge; biscuit-tin bothering frères of funk, Grooviculous; the return of the Baby Rave; the-breaking-cover-for-one-night-only Heroes in Hiding, and the jazz virtuoso and his trio, David Lyttle, described by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of the best, robust listening experiences you’re likely to have all year”.
Brimming with workshops, performances, talks and talent, the entire park will become an open-air exhibition of visual art and sculpture for the weekend. The roll call of talent continues with Galway Community Circus teaching the wonder of walking the tight wire to all, Lilac, Blackbird and Crow, Nix Moon, Mars Needs Guitars, Cavan Sinfonia Orchestra, Rebecca O’Connor, Jane McCormick, Ciara McKeon, and many more to be announced.
This year’s event once again aims to be as inclusive and family (and doggy) friendly as possible, with 99% of events remaining admission free.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of this nascent independent arts festival, brought to you by a team of young Cavan artists – your future self will thank you for it!
