Get a taste of track cycling on the world’s only pop up velodrome

StreetVelodrome brings 3 days of FREE family entertainment to Smithfield Square

Saturday will host Dublin’s Cycling Village & Family Fun

Saturday, 16th June 2018, 10am to 5pm

Race entrants must register in advance – places limited

 

Dublin City Council presents the Dublin City StreetVelodrome, as part of National Bike Week 2018, from Thursday 14th June through to Saturday 16th June in Smithfield Square, Dublin 7. This free 3-day family friendly event will include live entertainment, music, kids’ activities, special guest appearances and great cycle sport entertainment!

 

On Thursday 14th and Friday 15th June, StreetVelodrome Dublin City will be open to schools and the general public. Cycling enthusiasts are invited to come along to Smithfield Square and test out their skills on the velodrome which will be open from 3pm to 6pm - no booking required! Bikes, helmets and professional coaching will all be provided free of charge.

 

On Saturday 16th June, Dublin will host the Cycling Village on Smithfield Square where cyclists can pick up bike care tips. There will be plenty of family entertainment including face painting and arts & crafts The Wobbly Circus’ colourful street performers will also be showing off their cycling skills on penny farthings and unicycles.

 

Visitors to Smithfield Square on Saturday can also watch the Viking Pro StreetVelodrome Series, a touring competition which sees professional riders competing for gold, silver and bronze medals at events held across the UK and Ireland. Spectators are encouraged to come along and cheer on Team Dublin in the professional race at 1pm. Amateur cyclists of all ages are also invited to participate in competitions running throughout the day.
