So Funny Sligo Comedy Festival
Sligo has a brand new festival...the ‘So Funny Sligo Comedy Festival’ is coming your way from October 2nd to 5th and has an array of shows to cater for all ages.
The Brainchild of Brendan Tierney, who has been involved in numerous Sligo events and festivals, the festival is expected to attract large crowds from around the country.
It's something I've always dreamed of and this is the first time I’m running my own festival. Comedy is a huge love of mine and for years I’ve always wanted a Comedy Festival in the Northwest' says Brendan.
Kilkenny, Galway and Dublin have amazing comedy festivals, so I decided there is no reason we can’t have one in the Northwest”, he adds.
The festival has a mix of local and national household names over four nights.
Local podcast heroes Raybo and Kendy kickstart the shows on Wednesday October 2nd, Hardy Bucks Hero Owen Colgan headlines the Thursday, comedy legend David McSavage leads the Friday line-up, ably assisted by Sligo’s very own John Colleary.
Saturday brings the festival to an end with two shows. At 3pm, The Colm Dawson Family Comedy Magic Show will tick the box for young and old and Today FM’s comedy duo Dermot & Dave bring down the curtain on the festival that night in the Radisson Hotel.
As well as the headline shows, watch out for some Pop Up Comedy Gigs about town on the Thursday and Friday evenings.
‘I hope to show that there is a hunger for a Comedy Festival in Sligo, and all going well, we’ll build and build this event to be something that attracts some of the best comedians in the world and visitors from far and wide. The local support I’ve been getting has been amazing”, said Brendan.
Andersons Live venue hosts the events, apart from the Dermot & Dave gig which will take place in the Radisson Hotel and the pop up gigs taking place in different locations
