Copper Coast UNESCO Geopark is famed for its geological & mining heritage & rugged coastline, discover more at our Visitor Centre.
The Copper Coast UNESCO Global Geopark is an initiative of local communities who wanted to create jobs and develop the sustainability of the area by enhancing and promoting its natural, cultural historical and undeniably beautiful assets.
The Copper Coast was awarded European Geopark status in 2001 and in 2004 legally formed a Company Limited by Guarantee holding Charitable Status and also achieved UNESCO Global Geopark status, placing it firmly on the international stage.
Every year Geoparks have a couple of weeks known as “European Geoparks Network Week” when they put on events to highlight the EGN and geodiversity in their area. In 2017 the organisers thought they’d call it “The Copper Coast Festival” and try to involve as many of the Geopark villages/communities as possible.
The festival is now in its 3rd year and going from strength to strength.
