The Waterford Festival of Food returns this April, bringing a three-day programme of events to Dungarvan and surrounding areas including Lismore. One of Ireland’s longest-running community food festivals, it combines local produce, dining experiences and outdoor activities, with a strong focus on community and shared experiences.
Alongside its well-known food events such as taste tours, cooking demonstrations and market stalls, the festival includes a wide range of family-friendly activities designed to engage younger visitors. Dungarvan Castle acts as the main hub for family entertainment, with interactive sessions, creative workshops and hands-on learning experiences taking place across the weekend.
Families can take part in activities such as children’s cookery sessions, seed planting workshops and sensory-friendly experiences, while also enjoying visits from farm animals, funfair rides and live demonstrations. Events like the Kids Bake Off, pottery workshops and storytelling sessions provide opportunities for children to get involved in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
