Mid Term at Croke Park

Teidí Tours return to Croke Park over mid-term with a fun, family friendly experience designed for younger visitors. Children take part in a teddy making workshop before heading on a guided tour of the stadium, with behind the scenes access and time to explore the GAA Museum afterwards. Each child creates their own sports teidí to bring home, making it an easy and engaging outing during the break.

For adults and students aged 16 and over, this weekend also features Tales from the Pale, a rooftop storytelling tour exploring Dublin’s darker history through spooky tales, writers and folklore as visitors walk the stadium roof and take in views across the city.

Akumakon returns to Galway for a weekend celebrating anime, manga and Japanese pop culture, bringing together fans of all ages for talks, panels, screenings and cosplay. One of the longest running conventions of its kind in Ireland, the event is organised by the University of Galway Anime and Manga Society and has grown into a well established fixture on the calendar.

Taking place across Áras na Mac Léinn and nearby campus buildings, the student led, non profit convention offers a lively and welcoming atmosphere, with activities running throughout the weekend. It is a fun option for families with older children and teens who enjoy anime, gaming and creative fandom culture.

Marlhill Open Farm

Marlhill Open Farm offers a relaxed and friendly day out for young families. Run by the Fitzgerald family, the farm is designed with little ones in mind, with plenty of animals to meet and space to play. Saturday Art Club

Wexford Arts Centre hosts two family friendly Saturday workshops this February, inviting young creatives to explore art through painting, drawing and hands on making. Set in the woods of Djouce, just outside Enniskerry, Zipit offers an active day out for families this mid-term break. The forest course includes a mix of zip lines, rope bridges, climbing walls and balance challenges, with routes rising up to twelve metres above ground.

Children aged 3–6 can try the junior ropes course, which stays low to the ground but still offers plenty of adventure. Older children and teens can take on the higher elements, with sessions lasting up to three hours. Located within easy reach of Bray, Roundwood and Dublin, it’s a good option for those looking to spend time outdoors this February.

Explorium

With over 250 hands-on exhibits and indoor adventure zones, Explorium is packed with activities to suit all ages this mid-term. Junior Explorium is perfect for ages 2–7 with creative play areas and interactive science zones, while older children can explore VR experiences, climbing challenges and the popular Tesla lightning show. Activate Waterford

Activate Waterford is a family activity centre with a huge range of indoor activities all under one roof, including laser tag, bowling, climbing, bouldering, soft play, physical gaming and roller skating. It is well suited to families looking for something active to do during the mid-term break.

The venue also runs a mid-term camp from 16th to 20th February, giving children the chance to try all of these activities as part of a supervised daily programme.

EPIC | Kids Go Free

Spend an engaging day at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum exploring the story of Irish emigration through interactive galleries and hands-on displays. Step aboard a replica famine ship, the Jeanie Johnson, and discover powerful personal stories while enjoying a museum experience that’s both educational and family-friendly.
