Scarefest is a brand new Halloween themed festival taking place in County Carlow each Halloween. The festival features a wide ranging programme, from paranormal investigations and witch trials, to spectacular fire shows and family fun activities! Friday 25th Lucinda Sly Walking Tour Carlow County Museum 4pm FREE This interactive walking tour tells the tragic tale of Lucinda Sly, who was hanged for murdering her husband in 1835, along with her alleged accomplice John Dempsey. Commencing from beneath the trap door from which she was hanged in Carlow County Museum, the tour will include visits to the old Carlow Gaol, The Governors House, Deighton Hall and Shamrock Square and will be led by local historian John McDarby. https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/lucinda-sly-walking-tour-tickets-74546375215 Paranormal Investigation Duckett's Grove 8pm €30 Take part in a real Paranormal Investigation in one of Ireland's most haunted buildings. During the day, Duckett's Grove is full of life and is a very popular tourist destination with its' two beautifully restored walled gardens, forest walks, tea rooms and craft shops. However, by night, it's completely different and many can even sense the energy building as the sun goes down. Some paranormal activity encountered at the site has also been less than friendly over the years and as a result, you have to be over the age of 18 to complete an investigation and be willing to sign a waiver upon arrival. https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/72745942071 Saturday 26th Carlow Farmers Market Street Party Potato Market 10am – 2pm FREE* The weekly Carlow Farmers Market will host a massive street party consisting of street entertainment, busking competition, face painting, pumpkin competitions, pumpkin soup and a mobile petting farm (small charge applies for entry into the petting farm and bouncy castles etc. - all other activities are free).
