Kicking off the exciting winter events line up will be a William Penn talk by Andrew R. Murphy on Thursday, November 15th at 2.30pm. It’s a must for anyone interested in literature and history. Andrew is a Professor of Political Science at Rutgers University, New Jersey and the author of the 2018 hit, William Penn: A Life. The talk will detail some of the main points in the book from Penn's early days as the son of a respected naval admiral through his controversial conversion to Quakerism, including his public career advocating for religious freedom, his role in the founding of the Pennsylvania, his multiple stints in prison, and his tempestuous relationship with his own colonists.
