Cairde Sligo Arts Festival returns from 4th to 11th July 2026, bringing eight days of creativity, performance and community celebration to the heart of Sligo. Inspired by the artistic spirit of Ireland’s Northwest, the festival transforms the town with a diverse programme of music, theatre, dance, visual art, literature, circus and outdoor events.
Families can enjoy a packed programme of interactive performances, storytelling, creative workshops and street theatre, alongside colourful outdoor shows and activities designed for children and young people. Throughout the week, parks, streets and public spaces become stages for artists from Ireland and beyond, creating a welcoming festival atmosphere for all ages.
The 2026 programme also features live concerts, contemporary theatre, dance performances, exhibitions, literary talks, comedy, workshops and late-night events, offering something for every interest. From intimate performances to large-scale outdoor spectacles, the festival celebrates both established artists and exciting new voices.
Families are well catered for throughout the festival, with outdoor street theatre, circus performances, storytelling, live music and hands-on creative workshops taking place across Sligo. Highlights include A Stroll on Our Shoulders, Irish Wake Amusements, Fountain of Joy, Cloudcatcher and the Little Irish History Heroes storytelling and craft event, giving children plenty of opportunities to get involved.
With its strong community spirit and wide-ranging programme, Cairde Sligo Arts Festival continues to be one of the cultural highlights of the summer along the Wild Atlantic Way, inviting visitors to experience the very best of contemporary arts in one of Ireland’s most scenic towns.
