Engineers Week
Engineers Week 2026: Family Fairs & Events Engineers Week 2026 begins with a dedicated family weekend on Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March, as Engineers Ireland and partner organisations across the country host hands-on events designed to spark curiosity in young minds. Taking place nationwide from 28 February to 6 March, the week highlights how engineering shapes everyday life, from transport and technology to sustainability and the built environment. Engineers Week brings a wide range of family-friendly events across the country, giving children the chance to explore science, design and problem solving through practical, hands-on experiences. In Kilkenny, Castlecomer Discovery Park hosts a two-hour STEM workshop for children aged 9 to 12, where participants build and test their own mini obstacle course before taking on the Octagon High Ropes Course. Dublin’s National Print Museum runs a live demonstration event where retired printers showcase historic machinery in action, offering families of all ages a look at the technologies that shaped communication. In Cork, the Old Cork Waterworks Experience hosts a free Family Open Day with interactive stands and activities introducing different branches of engineering. At Engineers Ireland in Ballsbridge, pre-booked workshops include LEGO engineering sessions for younger children, hands-on construction challenges, a live robotics demonstration with Phi-do the Robot Dog and Scientific Sue’s Crazy Weather Show...
