This Easter, Clean Coasts is swapping chocolate for conservation with an egg hunt of a different kind. Families, friends and coastal groups are being encouraged to head to their local beaches to search for shark, skate and ray eggs—also known as “Mermaid’s Purses”—as part of An Taisce’s Clean Coasts Programme and the #2MinuteBeachClean campaign.

Running nationwide throughout the Easter break, the initiative invites beachgoers to combine litter picking with a fun egg case hunt. These leathery egg cases, often found tangled in seaweed at low tide, offer valuable insights for marine scientists tracking species and identifying nursery areas. Participants can record their finds with The Ray Project or the National Biodiversity Data Centre’s Explore Your Shore! programme to help build a clearer picture of Ireland’s marine life.

As part of the campaign, a special clean and egg case hunt will take place in Kilmore Quay, Co. Wexford on 22 April at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to join the #2MinuteBeachClean team at The Burrow Beach steps for a short clean-up followed by a guided hunt. For those unable to attend, Clean Coasts is encouraging people to plan their own outing using tips and resources available online.

Graune Pet Farm is celebrating Easter in style this year with the official opening of its brand new Gruffalo Trail. Families are invited to step into the world of the Gruffalo and friends as part of a magical spring adventure across the farm. Over the Easter weekend—from Saturday 19 to Monday 21 April—the Easter Bunny will be making special appearances for meet and greets and little ones can join the Easter Egg Hunt each day at 2.30pm. This Easter, Greywood Arts is inviting families to get creative with a series of hands-on workshops in preparation for the May Sunday Festival in Killeagh. Across April, participants can take part in design, dyeing and sewing sessions to craft bold and beautiful Bealtaine banners, which will become a striking installation in Glenbower Woods.

Workshops include design sessions with Greywood Arts and Chapter Design on 17th April, followed by a Sewing Up Day on 23rd April. Experimental Eco Dyeing and Printing workshops on 23rd and 26th April will explore natural pigments, with finished pieces stitched together using nettle fibres. These creations will take centre stage during the festival in May, celebrating the community’s creativity and connection to nature.

The Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt

Brigit’s Garden is set to welcome families for a fun-filled Easter weekend with its popular Easter Egg Hunt. Test your aim at Crack an Egg in the Coop, build giant domino runs with Humpty Dumpty and put your adventure skills to the test on the Easter Quest. Little artists can create their own Easter masterpiece with Bunny Brushstrokes, while energetic visitors can take on the Eggsercise Gym with Bouncy and Stretchy.
