Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women returns for its fourth edition this weekend with over 80 events across the city. This year’s programme promises to be the biggest and most exciting yet, offering families a chance to explore women’s contributions to culture, society and history.
Highlights include the Children’s History Workshop: Brigid’s Crosses, hosted by Dublin’s Historian in Residence for Children, Dervilia Roche, at Richmond Barracks on Saturday. The Shine On: Brigit at the GPO event will bring the iconic building to life all weekend with dazzling projections celebrating Brigit, the goddess of inspiration, creativity and renewal while the National Musuem hosts many different family tours and workshops.
Families can also marvel at a giant Brideog made from plant materials in the gardens of the National Botanic Gardens as part of the Wild Ireland exhibit. On Saturday in Kidspace Rathfarnham and Sunday in Rathcoole two of the biggest superhero legends—Spiderman and Batman—arrive to meet all the little superheroes. Mini-Con Tallaght

Mid Kerry's Biddy Festival
Killorglin, | January 31st - February 3rd
The Biddies tradition dates back to pre-Christian times and holds significant cultural importance. It is believed the practice first took place to celebrate Imbolc and lately St. Brigit's Day. In 2019, Mid Kerry’s Biddy tradition was among 30 cultural practices granted protection by the Irish state, recognising its unique heritage.
Killorglin is set to come alive this weekend with a host of events, all centred around the much-loved Biddy’s Parade, which takes place on Saturday at 7pm, starting at the Fishery and concluding at the Fair Field.

Mark the Year of the Snake with spectacular Cantonese Lion and Qilin dances from the legendary Flower City Dragon and Lion Dance Association. Find your inner calm with a Tai Chi demonstration by students of the Sam Lee Academy showcasing the graceful movements of the late Sam Lee’s unique style. For something more energetic, join the amazing Pink K-pop Academy dancers to learn some of the latest K-pop moves.
Foodies won’t want to miss Seoul Kitchen, Ireland’s first Korean street food stall serving up authentic flavours with sauces imported directly from South Korea. Also, be sure to stop by Bahay, known for its incredible Filipino street food that combines locally sourced Irish ingredients with traditional Filipino cooking techniques.

Dalkey Comedy Festival

This Saturday, 1st February 2025, Dublinia will host a St Brigid’s Cross Workshop as part of the Mystic Dublin exhibition. Running from 11am to 4pm, the workshop invites visitors to learn about this iconic Irish craft. Guided by an expert crafter, participants will weave their own cross using traditional techniques and can add a creative twist with colourful pipe cleaners.
The workshop is included in the price of admission and is suitable for ages 5 and up, with an accompanying adult. This event offers a hands-on way to connect with Ireland’s rich heritage while discovering the mystical traditions of medieval Dublin.
